New Library Project

GRAND OPENING

April 9 at 1 pm, in the new library parking lot at 1 Memorial Ave. Following a presentation, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony, tours through the new building, and the new facility will be open for business. The older building will host a booksale April 10. Later work will begin to convert the former library into a courthouse.

Feb. 18, 2011 Status Report

As of Feb. 18 the new facility is nearly complete. Carpet and tile are laid, painting finished, and basic systems running. Letters have been placed on the exterior sign. During March, furniture, new steel shelving, and some essential equipment will be installed, with the final pieces coming in late March or early April. We will make a transition from the old building to the new when everything there is complete, hopefully with a minimum amount of down time. The Friends hope to have a booksale in the old facility after we’ve moved.

Library Nears Completion

Library Construction to Finish by February 2011

Tower Construction has been granted a contract extension into February due to problems beyond their control. (An early finish is still a possibility.) As of this post, all of the masonry has been added to the exterior of the building.

June Progress Report

A stone veneer is added to the sides of the building. Currently the project is estimated to be finished in December.

Floors have been poured.

The U.S. flag appeared on the new library in the month of May with the completion of the steel framework.
